The Federal Highway Act. What is this act? What did it do? Well there is a lot that you don’t know and there is a lot that you are about to learn about the Federal Highway Act.
This act is better known as the National Interstate and Defense Highway Act, passed this a law on June 26, 1956. According to (history.com,)the man who signed the bill into law was President Dwight D. Eisenhower. He got this idea from a person in Germany, Hitler. Hitler had made them to transport military weapons for war. The bill destroyed unsafe roads, wasted routes, and traffic jams and those would be replaced with new roads. The construction of this costs $25,000,000,000. This construction has acted as one of our main transportations, and the American lifestyles.
