Have you ever wondered about the World Wars? Well did you know that Kansas actually helped in both WWI and WWII? Yeah they did and if you want to know how it helped in WWII then you came to the right place.
During WWII Kansas was a very important U.S. Army Air Force training center for pilots, air crews, and bomber. Some of these training centers were in Topeka and Wichita. From (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kansas_World_War_II_army_airfields,) the training grounds were great for the trainees for bombers and gunnery. The training at the airfields gave the men skills and knowledge to enter combat in all genres of warfare and also gave them the ability to defeat the Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan.
According to (http://www.kansascity.com/living/star-magazine/article6511668.html,)before the war a place called the North American Aviation plant opened in Kansas City. It hired 1,400 skilled workers. In October 1943 the plant had employed 24,000 women. Today the plant is a symbol of pride and patriotism not just a place for families recovering from the Great Depression.
An interesting fact is that there are many women who played very important roles in WWII. One of them was Alice Vogt a women who helped beat Hitler and Tojo. Vogt would climb inside B-25s to hold a bar to flatten incoming rivets.
On December 8, 1941 Franklin Roosevelt went to the congress for a Declaration of War since the day yesterday in 1941 was when the Japanese bombed of Pearl Harbor. With that declaration it brought the U.S. into the conflict of WWII. Kansas housed many aircraft companies to prepare. Those include the Travel Air, Boeing, Stearman Aircraft. The U.S. really relied on Kansas for flight support. According to (http://salutetofreedom.org/ks.html,)because of the Air Capital the U.S. was able to gain thousands of planes and were needed for the air support. That war caused many deaths and injuries but Kansas always had one advantage - it had wings.
