Kansas has a unique labor history. They’re not just a bunch of farmers. As industrialization spread west, many workers found themselves working in Kansas companies. As time went on, these workers began to demand or want better conditions and pay.
A union is a group of people in a company who represent the workers in the company. The purpose of a union is to speak for the majority of the workers in the company. The reason why a strike works is because the manager can't fire all of his workers, it would take to long to hire and train all of them, and if u take it public then it looks bad for their business. That's why the most powerful weapon they can use is the strike.
We all know what a strike is, right? It’s a group of people who refuse to work for demands to be met. Demands might include not being given fair wage or they are being treated poorly. For example, people that worked at Ford in Kansas City planned to strike in September of 2015. Ford says that the plant is critical to them become it makes most of the Ford F-150’s. A strike is legal when the employer has either unfit working conditions or unlawful payment like getting paid 7.25 an hour.
A union is a group of people who represent the workers, and a strike is only legal when the pay is under the standard or if the working conditions are unfit. The last known strike in KS was on september 2015 according to Detroit News.
