Mary Lease is very… well... interesting you could say. She was also confident. She brought hell to the system on behalf of the people and farmers. This meant she was trying to get everyone's attention as a “populist” because there are poor people, working people, women, people who don’t have a voice.

Mary Lease had the characteristics of a pioneer women. She tried to organize the teachers to demand more pay. She got married to a guy named Charles Lease. She is one of the people, if you're a woman or girl, you should thank for giving you the the right to vote. She helped women’s suffrage become a thing. And if you don’t know what woman suffrage is, well today is your lucky day because I am going to tell you what it means. According to suffrage means “ The right to vote in elections”. Therefore, women’s suffrage means, “Women who have the right to vote in elections”. She brought hell to the populist.

You may be wondering what Mary Elizabeth Lease has to do with this. Mary was a populist. A populist is a member of a political party. It all starts with people helping others who don’t have a voice, a say, or anything to do with voting in elections or anything because they are poor or homeless. Mary Lease is one of the thousands who helped people like a farmer, women even, single mothers, and sometimes children. Mary Lease helped women suffrage. She helped many people get more pay, a voice, homeless mothers get the support that they need. And now look at us all. They made something called child support to help divorced parents, but sadly, they haven’t done AS much for the homeless as they could be doing.

That’s why people use money from what they made, and give the homeless a place to stay, eat, live a normal life. Mar Leasen even has a quote! Her quote is “Kansas had better stop raising corn and start raising hell” and another one is “An organized effort making to deceive the people. There are two great enemies of thought and progress, the aristocracy of royalty and the aristocracy gold.”. The first quote is basically telling you that they are trying to help those who don’t have a voice.
